Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner, this restaurant is a must! Located on Bahia Vista Street, east of Beneva Road, this establishment boasts a bake shop filled with doughnuts, muffins, sweet rolls, coffee cakes, pies and cookies; as well as specialty foods and a gift boutique on the mezzanine, where you'll discover a wonderful collection of dolls, tea sets, handmade items, decorative accessories, fine china and more! Best of all is the food...and there’s lots of it! You can enjoy a Breakfast Buffet every morning beginning at 7:00 a.m., or order from a full breakfast menu serving from 6:00 a.m. Buffet items include Fresh Pastries, Scrambled Eggs, Grits, fried Corn Mush, Pancakes, Sausage, Bacon, Ham, Biscuits, Gravy, fresh Fruit and more that keeps coming fresh off the griddle or out of the oven. Lunches and dinners are plentiful and prepared with fresh homemade ingredients. In addition to soup and salads, Sandwiches, homemade Chili, Vegetable or Fruit Plates...there′s featured items...like hot Roast Beef, Turkey, or Meatloaf with Mashed Potatoes smothered in gravy! How about Broasted Chicken, Pork Chops, Shrimp, or Orange Roughy served with two side dishes and homemade dinner rolls and butter. A Soup and Sandwich Buffet includes a salad bar with over 30 items. You′ll find soups of Ham & Bean, Cream of Broccoli, Chicken Noodle as well as a variety of vegetable and sandwich fixings such as beef, turkey, BBQ chicken, even Sloppy Joe's. There's a 9 entrée Dinner Buffet in the evening accompanied by a Salad Bar. There are "Family Style" offerings that include Roast Beef, Broasted Chicken, Turkey, Country Ham and Meatloaf. Refer to their web page for details. A Children's Menu is available for ages 10 and under featuring sandwiches of PB&J, hot dogs, grilled cheese, hamburgers and fish served with French fries followed by an ice cream cone or cookie. Dinners of Chicken, Pizza or fish include a vegetable, applesauce or noodles, including dessert. My family and I were anxious to put a dent in the Dinner Buffet. We entered an impressive vestibule flanked on the left by a grand staircase leading to the mezzanine gift shop; while, the right held our attention as we passed mouthwatering selections of Pastries, Pies, homemade fudge, Candies, Breads and Jellies. At the back of the vestibule we were greeted and seated at one of four, large dining locations. We quickly grabbed "chilled" plates at the salad bar and filled them with greens, fresh veggies, pasta salad, Cole slaw, cottage cheese, fresh fruits, pickled eggs and more. Warm butter topped and whole wheat rolls were waiting as we returned to our table. The Main course consisted of three meat selections. In this case Ham, Fried Chicken and Roast Beef; as well as Fried Grouper or Baked White Fish. Side dishes are determined by fresh selections at the Farmer's Market. As usual, there were numerous choices...Corn, green beans, carrots, Brussel sprouts, zucchini and summer squash along with starches of candied yams, russet potatoes, buttered noodles, "real" mashed potatoes and homemade stuffing. Chicken gravy and cinnamon apples were also on hand. Due to its huge popularity, the buffet is constantly replenished with mouthwatering freshly carved or out of the oven replacements. My son must have eaten at least 5 pieces of chicken along with mashed potatoes and gravy. I followed suit with the chicken, (my favorite) and opted for their homemade stuffing, Brussel sprouts and green beans. As for my spouse, let's say he went back three times and cleaned his plate! Dinner hours are: Monday through Friday ~ 4:00 till 8:00 p.m. ~ with Friday and Saturday from 12:00 till 9:00 p.m. Deserts are at an additional charge, but worth every penny! Over 30 varieties of pies are made daily… (some even sugar fee), as well as bread pudding, date nut pudding, homemade Ice Cream, fat free frozen Yogurt… and My favorite, a warm brownie with ice cream, hot fudge, and whipped cream topped with a cherry. Troyer’s is a true family favorite that’ll keep us coming back, time and again! DIRECTIONS: From US 41 south of downtown, go east on Bahia Vista, cross Tuttle and Beneva Avenues. Look for Dutchman Heritage Restaurant on the left. From I-75, take exit 210 (Fruitville Rd.) west to Beneva Rd. Turn left (south) on Beneva Rd. to the first traffic light at Bahia Vista and turn left (east). Dutch Heritage Restaurant is approximately ¼ mile on the left. |
